The concept of an electric backpack harness system does sound (and look) like an extremely viable idea, especially when we run out of non-renewable energy sources in the future. Bulgarian architect Martin Angelov’s backpack harness system will comprise of a network of wires that is strung all around the city, where each individual owns their own backpack that holds a harness, a battery bag, and a light engine which will run on the Kolelinia wire mechanism. All you need to do is line up, fasten yourself to the battery-powered harness securely, jump onto a wire and fly to your desired destination. We wonder what do insurance companies have to say about this, and will obese folks be able to be carried by the tensile strength of the wire mechanism? What happens when a terrorist decides to cut the wires? Far too risky – we’ll stick to bicycles instead.
