Forgive the pun in the title, but the BeamBox Evolution R-2 pico projector certainly does look as though it can carry the banner for pico projectors worldwide, being the brightest model from the company to date with 40 ANSI lumens of brightness and a 200:1 contrast ratio. Not only that, it boasts native SVGA (800 x 600) resolution alongside a 1GB hard drive (we would have preferred flash memory to be used instead for such a paltry amount for obvious reasons) and an integrated media player, letting you playback videos, photo slides, and MP3 files without requiring to hook it up to an external content source. This isn’t new though, as the 3M Mpro150 already does that. Connectivity options include an AV jack, a mini USB port, an SD memory card slot and a RGB port. We’re pleased as punch that the R-2 can do wireless transmission, but we have no idea on whether this $360 device comes with an internal battery or runs off a power cord.
