It seems that Augmented Reality (AR) technology is a novelty that has a hard time breaking into the mainstream consciousness, but as more and more novel ways are thought up of, it might just stumble upon a “killer app” so to speak. Could the FabLabWall iPhone app (can’t seem to look it up in the App Store though) be it? Apparently, it will show virtual pieces of art, and even sound and video. There are no plans to put such a wallpaper into mass production as at press time, despite it being an art installation at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris as part of an exhibition that runs from May 7 to August 15 this year, but it might prove to be the spark that gets the whole AR wallpaper gig going worldwide.
