Seiko doesn’t seem to be scared to try about different technologies on watches, and the company has previously offered watches with concealed photovoltaic (PV) cells by stacking colored resin plates, but this time it has decided to use transparent plates so that the PV cells are clearly visible. The goal of this design is apparently to attract interest from the younger generation who have high concerns about ecological issues. Seiko is planning to launch 10 types of wrist watches with prices ranging from ¥19,950 to 26,250 (approx US$215-283). Just so you know, when fully charged, these watches are able to operate for about six months, so you don’t have to go for a walk in the sun everyday if you don’t want to.
