We know that electric vehicles (EVs) are the way forward as the automotive industry wants to wean folks off gas, but that is still a long way in coming before EVs become mainstream and affordable enough for the average Joe on the street. Geely recently unveiled its Gleagle IG that comes with a solar panel on its front bonnet, presumably to help juice up its batteries by some bit whenever you are parked under the sun (or stuck in rush hour traffic, for that matter). Surely the solar panel won’t be able to charge its internal battery fully unless you leave it out for weeks on end (great for long term parking in an open air carpark), but at least it does help a wee bit each day.
