Garmin has trio of marine GPS handheld devices

Garmin has announced that they will be rolling out a trio of marine GPS handheld devices known as the Garmin GPSMAP 78, GPSMAP 78s and GPSMAP 78sc. This remodeled series are able to run for up to 20 hours on just a pair of AA batteries, and will feature the HotFix GPS receiver from SiRF to help you get around. Shared specifications include a 2.6? color TFT display, IPX 7 waterproof certification, 1.7GB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot are also standard. The GPSMAP 78 is going for $350 being the base model, while the $450 GPSMAP 78s comes with a barometric altimeter, tilt compensated 3-axis electronic compass and wireless unit-to-unit transfer. Last but not least is the $550 GPSMAP 78sc which has all that and pre-loaded maps. Meant for folks who spend plenty of time in the waters though.
