Despite Intel’s Atom processor enjoying much of the success in the netbook market, let’s not forget that AMD is also still in the game, and word is going around the Acer is gearing up to launch a new 10.1-inch netbook that uses AMD’s 1.2GHz V105 single core processor. It’s still not official yet, but the AMD-powered Aspire One 521 will reportedly be using an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4225 graphics chip, paired with the AMD M880G chipset, hinting at the possibility of this netbook being able to handle HD video playback. The netbook should also offer optional Bluetooth 3 support, a compact charger and a battery that should be able to last up to 7-hours (depending on usage, of course). There isn’t any word on when the Acer Aspire One 521 will be launched, or at what price point, but we’ll keep an eye on this.
