If you’ve been dying to get Google’s latest version of Android, Android 2.1, on your Motorola Droid, but didn’t dare use any hacked firmware, it seems that you’re in luck. Verizon Wireless has officially confirmed that the Motorola Droid will be getting the Android 2.1 update, though there wasn’t any mention of when the firmware will be released. Features of the updated firmware for the Motorola Droid will give it:
- Multi-touch capabilities, allowing you to pinch-to-zoom in the browser, gallery, and Google Maps
- Google News and Weather application
- Voice-to-text entry
- 3D Gallery
- Live wallpapers
- Yahoo Mail support
- Google Maps update
- Improved pattern-lock
- Improved headset audio quality
Update: It seems that the update will roll out on Thursday 18th March at noon (EST).
