Looks like Sanyo made good on their promise to deliver a solar parking area which will power a century of Sanyo Eneloop Bikes as part of their “Community bicycles” offered by the Setagaya Ward to folks who prefer to bike around after forking out an initial amount. This unique parking station will not require any power from the city’s grid, since it relies fully on the sun to juice up the 100 bicycles connected. All coverted solar energy will be redistributed to elements such as LED lighting and other equipment necessary to run this operation, while feeding the Backup Batteries as well. We hope to see this implemented in other bicycle-friendly cities as well.
