Iwatani fuel-cell assisted bicycle

Iwatani Corp. of Japan have come up with a new fuel-cell assisted bicycle which charges a lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery using a polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) system, where it is able to garner an output of about 60W. Hydrogen is the fuel of choice here, where it is stored in a hydrogen cartridge. A full charge allows one to travel up to 45km on the bicycle itself on average, although that is largely dependant on your cycling condition. There are no plans to commercialize the bicycle, although the company is working on enhancing the output power of the PEFC system.
