Purchasing movie tickets from your mobile phone might not have been all that convenient, as you’d generally still need to print out the paper ticket from your computer or from the dispenser. Now the folks over at Fandango are looking to help you shed that last bit of paper, with its Mobile Tickets service. After purchasing your movie tickets, your ticket will be delivered directly to your mobile phone in the form of a 2D barcode, or QR code, which can then be scanned before you enter the cinema. Of course, theaters will need to equip themselves with scanners that support QR codes, so this program is currently only available at select cinemas in places such as New York, New Jersey, Houston, Dallas, San Diego, Bakersfield, Sonoma County and Hawaii. Do you think that purchasing movie tickets from your mobile phone is the future, or do you think that queuing up to purchase a paper ticket is part of the movie going experience?
