Microsoft has revealed that they will be rolling out an emergency update tomorrow for Internet Explorer which will put to bed nine vulnerabilities, where one of them includes the hole while allows malicious folks to exploit IE6 and IE7 systems. Microsoft did issue warnings on such attacks three weeks back, releasing Security Advisory 981374 during its most recent Patch Tuesday. While this zero-day IE hole could potentially enable an attacker to take control of a machine if a user visited a malicious Web site, those who are using IE8 and running on Windows 7 are not vulnerable to that particular flaw. Basically, Microsoft’s advice is this – “If you are still using IE6 or IE7, patch immediately. But even if you are on IE8 you should patch as quickly as possible, as attackers will start reverse engineering the flaws addressed and preparing corresponding exploits within the week.”
