Texas Instruments nHD chipset announced
[MWC 2010] Texas Instruments has just announced its latest nHD chipset alongside the DLP Pico suite, where the former makes it possible to manufacture the thinnest, smallest DLP Pico engine to date. With nHD production availability expected to begin from Q2 of this year onwards, one can expect to see a new range of pico projectors hit the market before the year is over. As seen in the image above, the nHD chip is as small as a grain of rice, and despite its size, is full well capable of offering stunning picture quality. Features of the new DLP Pico solution includes :-
- nHD (640×360) resolution
- Enables leading contrast ratio of better than 1,000:1 for the blackest blacks and most accurate whites
- Enables true RGB LED wide color gamut for rich saturated colors
- Improved power efficiency and electronic footprint
- Incorporates a new low power Pico DPP2601/2607 ASIC/Processor
- Enables a greater than 20 percent thinner optical module than WVGA chipset with full offset
- Enables a greater than 50 percent smaller optical module volume than WVGA chipset with full offset
