Samsung Galaxy i7500 to get Android 2.1 in Q2
Samsung’s first Android handset, the Galaxy i7500, shipped with Android 1.5 and will be getting the Android 2.1 update sometime in the second quarter of the year, according to Samsung Poland’s confirmation of the upgrade. This would mean the Android 2.1 update can be applied through the Samsung Kies software suite which ought to be readily available via the Samsung Apps application store. No idea on whether the slightly newer Galaxy i5700 Spica will also receive a similar update, but we do hope that the upcoming Galaxy2 handset from Samsung will feature Android 2.1 at launch to save users the pain of making the upgrade themselves.
