The Nexus One from Google might have had plenty of hype in the build up to its official announcement, but it seems that despite that, initial sales haven’t reflected that hype. According to analyst firm Flurry Inc., Google sold just 80,000 units of the device during its first month of being on sale. If you want a comparison, the Motorola Droid sold 525,000 units and the iPhone sold 600,000 units on their first months respectively. Speculation is that this could be due to Google selling the phone online, and not offering it for sale directly through a wireless service provider. Aside from that, the lack of Nexus One advertising also might have been a contributing factor, especially when you take into account the number of web ads available for the Droid and iPhone. That being said, Google has come up with a rather interesting series of videos on the creation of the Nexus One, so maybe that will help.
