[CES 2010] This is a hidden gem from the floors of CES, with Identity of Korea unveiling their SoIP S1 device. Currently in a prototype form factor, what you see here is meant to run on the Android operating system with it sitting squarely in your living room. Boasting a capability of supporting DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance), it will be able to play nice with compatible consumer electronic devices from 240 members within DLNA which ought to make it future-proof for a fair number of years. The display itself is touchscreen sensitive, and there is a handset placed in the cradle that can be picked up whenever you want to carry out a VoIP conversation, although you might most probably consider using the integrated webcam to carry out a video call instead. It remains connected to the Internet via a Wi-Fi router, and the touchscreen display will show off a variety of widgets and can even double up as a digital photo frame. The prototype on display is missing a credit card reader which will be implemented in the final version, where you will then be able to make online transactions with your credit card using nothing but a simple swipe. Other specifications are available in the extended post. Identity is currently looking for a mobile carrier to work with, and hope to see it roll out by the holiday season this year or early 2011.
