Hallods has launched its latest FH8800 portable media player in Japan, where you get pretty much the run-of-the-mill specifications including a 4.3″ LCD display at 800 x 480 resolution, a microSDHC memory card slot, HDMI output with full HD support, USB On-The-Go that enables one to copy straight from the hard drive to the device itself, and 16GB of internal memory to get you started. Apart from that, expect all the regular video file formats to be supported, among them include MPEG-4, FLV (H.264), AVI, RMVB, MOV, VOB, DAT, WMV, MKV, ASF, TS and 3GP. If you don’t want an iPod touch, the Hallods FH8800 seems to be an alternative at €199, although you will lose the advantage of the App Store.
