Today, Toshiba launched its T100 series with Windows 7, respectively the 13.3-inch T135 with either Intel Pentium Dual Core SU4100 (1.3GHz, 800 MHz, 2 MB) or Intel SU2700 (1.3GHz, 800 MHz, 2 MB) and the 11.6-inch T115 with Intel Pentium Dual Core SU4100 (1.3GHz, 800 MHz, 2 MB) or Intel Celeron 743 (1.2GHz, 800 MHz, 1 MB). The Satellite T135 (picture) weights only 3.88 lbs, and has a maximum thickness of 1.35 inch (0.87″ minimum), it boasts a 6-cell battery delivering 9 hours of battery life, 3GB or 4Gb DDR3 RAM (max 8 GB), 250 to 500 GB hard drive (5400 rpm), price starting at $599.99, available on October 22, 2009.
The Satellite T115, starting at $449.99, weights only 3.49 lbs and has a maximum thickness of 1.35 inch (0.99″ minimum), and offers a 6-cell battery delivering 9 hours of battery life, 2 GB DDR3 RAM (max 4GB), 250 GB hard drive (5400 rpm),available on October 22 as well. At this price, this is serious competition for the Acer Timeline (1.1 inch thick max, 9 hour battery, 13.3-inch to 15-inch, 3.5 or 4.2 or 5.3 lbs) and the MSI X-Slim series, although one version of the Timeline boasts a more powerful processor, the SU9400. Asus will launch its new ultra-thin notebooks soon as well.
