iRex’s latest ebook reader would be the DR 300SG, where it was launched specifically for the US market. It comes with an 8.1″ touchscreen e-paper display, where you will be able to take advantage of its 3G connectivity to access its online bookstore where you have thousands of virtual tomes to choose from and purchase. Word has it the iRex DR 300SG will support the Barnes & Noble bookstore out of the box where downloads are concerned, and it will also play nice with several other store formats such as Fictionwise, LibreDigital and Newspaper Direct and the universal EPUB format. It will come with a multi-standard Qualcomm Gobi chipset within, supporting Verizon’s 3G network in the US although it will switch to HSPA elsewhere. There is 2GB of internal memory within for you to store your favorite titles, where you can also use it to flip through text files and PDF formats. Expect the iRex DR 300SG to hit Best Buy stores from next month onwards for $399 a pop, where it will cross the Atlantic sometime early next year. [Press Release]
