When a company claims that their product is the fastest in the world (or other superlative), it would be wise to take that with a grain of salt in addition to looking around and see whether their business rivals have released something to usurp the claimed device’s capability. Well, Corsair’s latest Flash Voyager GT 128GB is touted to be the fastest high capacity USB flash drive in the world, featuring read speeds that touch 32MB/s and write speeds of up to 25.6MB/s, where it is basically restrained by the speed of the USB 2.0 bus and operating system overhead. It would be interesting to see who else will attempt to break Corsair’s record in this department, but perhaps we should be moving on to FireWire flash drives? No idea on pricing or availability as at press time.
