Western Digital is back in the news today with their new line of Scorpio Blue notebook hard drives which will touch the fabled 1TB mark, although those on a tighter budget can always settle for the 750GB model. These two models are made possible thanks to technology that crams in slightly more than 333GB/platter. The drives measure 12.5mm tall though, making them more or less unsuitable to fit into most notebooks outside of desktop replacement models, targeting them as external drives instead. They will feature anti-shock protection for greater peace of mind when it comes to your data alongside quiet mechanisms to ensure you get to work late into the night without ruffling anyone’s feathers in the same room. The 750GB and 1TB models will retail for $190 and $250, respectively, connecting to either SATA or SATA II interfaces. [Press Release]
