Check out Nitipak Samsen’s ATREEM project – short for Automated Tree-Rental for Emission Encaging Machine that is actually a meter strapped to a tree, where it is able to measure its girth and determine just how much it offsets carbon emissions. For example, you will be able to compile a list of greenhouse grievances including the amount of electricity your household consumes, swiping your credit card after that to alleviate your guilt by donating money to the tree rental service running ATREEM. It definitely won’t take off from the conceptual stage, but we wonder just how much more stress can our planet take before it buckles under environmental pressure.
