Is it as good as Acer/Nvidia say at Playing HD content?
Yes, it is. The Aspire Revo plays HD video content without any problems. It is actually quite impressive, even if we had seen previous demos using the Ion platform.
How cute is it in the real world?
We like it. If you factor in the price, we have to admit that the computer has a lot of cuteness. The built quality is on par with popular netbooks, so that gives you an overall idea.
No DVI Output?
Yes, we know… It’s kind of annoying that Acer did not choose to go with a DVI instead of the VGA ouput, that’s a minus in our book.
Besides HD playback, how good is it at productivity apps?
It depends on what you are using. Office could be a little slow, but online apps like Google Docs or Zoho should feel somewhat similar to a desktop experience. We would not use this to replace your normal workstation. Nettops are getting there, but it will take a bit more time.
What about TV recording?
Well, it’s technically possible to add a USB TV Tuner. We have not tried it, but Acer and NVIDIA don’t even mention the possibility, so we suspect that the platform does not have the muscle to be a good DVR. We would love to be wrong on that one.
