Southwest Airlines will be the latest airline in the US to offer in-flight Wi-Fi for its flights from next Monday onwards, with three planes to be equipped next month. This service will be available to all but will be in beta for several months as they iron out whatever kinks that arise. Best of all is, the service is free during testing, but once everything is given the green light, it will cost you less than $10 per day according to its satellite operator, Row 44. Being satellite-bsaed means it will function over water, whereas Aircell’s service is good to only above-ground use. It remains to be seen how well this service will work compared to ground-to-air, so we look forward to comments by those who have already given this a go.
