We’ve had some play time with the Motorola Krave and we were pleasantly surprised. Given the number of poorly designed touch phones out there, it was with anxiety that we charged the phone. Externally, the Moto Krave ZN4 is cute and remindsus of its cousin, the Ming A1200. Many people did like the display cover, which also hosts the speaker (in the Motorola logo). The display (240×400) is bright and the colors are nice – no problem there.
Manymight be attracted by this phone for its looks and because they can get a touch phone (apparently, there’s a lot of hype around that) with “normal” plan that costs around $40/month. There’s certainly nothing wrong with not using a phone as a command center.
And if you’re not looking for a fancy smartphone, the Krave ZN4 performs relatively well: the touch-UI is not “iPhonesque” by any means but it is simple and efficient. Retrieving a contact, dialing a number, sending a message just works and there wasn’t any involontary action trigerred by a misplaced finger on the touch display. However, don’t expect pinch and zoom and an app store. In conclusion, the Krave ZN4 is a decent “normal” (as in “not a smartphone”)phone with a touch interface that works.
