Those of us who prefer doing almost everything using a computer probably don’t feel the urge to watch TV that often. After all its possible to catch up on your favorite programs straight on your computer itself, so there’s really no need to get up and sit in front of the idiot box. But come to think of it, do we avoid watching TV because we would rather spend that time in front of a computer? A TV tuner ends that dilemma and Buffalo’s latest gadget brings it in a much more concise package.
The Japanese company has unveiled a new USB flash drive that also has a built-in TV tuner. Carrying model number DH-KONE4G/U2DS, the flash drive is easy to carry around and perfect for people who want to watch TV on a computer that doesn’t have a built-in TV tuner. Buffalo hasn’t revealed details about pricing or availability as yet but that information should be available soon.
This is an excellent example of semi-conductor integration: components are getting so small that a standard USB-key form factor can now house 4GB of flash memory and a TV Tuner. Buffalo says that the key can store 4GB of video, and that probably means “low quality” video, but heck, it is still a cool gadget.
