The Metroboard electric skateboard might not use Bluetooth to control its movement, but relies on an infra-red handheld remote control instead. At first glance, it looks like any other ordinary skateboard, but upon closer inspection you’ll see a 450 Watt electric motor bolted underneath it, capable of pushing the board at speeds of up to 15mph with 0.6 horsepower on demand. The infrared remote has six buttons – three on the left for your speed/power level, two on the right to activate soft or hard regenerative braking through the engine and a black button that acts as a horn. Extreme caution is advised when you’re zipping around on the Metroboard at full speed since it isn’t too hard to fall off, so wearing all the necessary protective equipment is a must. The Metroboard starts from $399 upwards and maxes out at $575.
