X-Net aims to bring a new level of safety to vehicles by bringing virtually any car to a quick, safe stop with minimal vehicle damage. Currently in use by the U.K. and U.S. defense departments, the X-Net vehicle arrest system can be deployed within 20 seconds by hand, where the small barbed spikes on the leading edge of the net pierces the tire and wrapping the net around the wheel, preventing it from turning in the process. The car will the skid to a halt without harming the passenger and any passers-by, making this an effective tool when it comes to nabbing thieves and vagrants on the run.
