Xmultiple Technologies aims to revolutionize the flash memory card industry by introducing a new breed that boasts double the read/write speed of today’s flash memory cards. Known as the SQ, this patented mini memory card comes with a USB 2.0 interface adapter, making it possible to connect to virtually any USB port, be it the Mac or Windows platform. The inclusion of the Xmultiple ShareCard also enables SQ card users to swap data with each other on-the-fly without the need for a computer. Unfortunately, the SQ is currently available in 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB capacities at the moment which is enough for casual use but insufficient for backup purposes.
The performance of the SQ card is something to take note of, boasting a maximum speed of 60MB/s which is unmatched currently. The 2GB card features a read speed of 32.4MB/s and a write speed of 21.5Mb/s, while the 1GB version features read and write speeds of 24MB/s and 12MB/s respectively. These figures are vastly superior to standard read and write speeds of 2.8MB/s and 3.2Mb/s, making them the ideal add on for Vista users who want to take advantage of the ReadyBoost feature. Another selling point would be the ability to insert the SQ card in any direction, making it truly idiot-proof. Pricing details are still unknown.
