This German design project brings a new twist to an old object, digitizing the sands of time within the digital hourglass. Susann and Fabian were the ones working on this project, focusing on the amount of sleep a person gets instead of waking somebody up. You set the hourglass by holding it with both hands and tilting it to a 45° angle. A single LED represents an hour of sleep, making it possible for you to see how many hours you have clocked should you wake up in the middle of the night. When standing on a surface at a 90° (or 270°) angle, it will be activated. Both Susann and Fabian even threw in a 5-minute snooze function that can be activated by turning the clock upside down when the alarm rings.
