Asus Z62F solid state notebook
The Asus Z62F notebook looks pretty ordinary with the Intel Core Duo T2400 1.83GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, and an integrated graphics processor. What makes it stand out from the rest of the mundane notebook crowd is the 16GB PQI Turbo 1.8″ flash disk that costs a whooping $1199, which is 50% the total cost of the Z62F. It is connected via an IDE cable and is roughly half the size of a 1.8″ spinning hard drive. Initial tests at Gearlog.com have unveiled some rather insignificant improvement numbers in performance, so purchasing a notebook with solid state memory might prove to be a premature decision at the moment.
