Things break down from time to time, such as screws becoming loose and falling out, nuts and bolts breaking off from furniture, and so on. If you’re a handy person then chances are replacing them will be a piece of cake, but what about those who aren’t too familiar with such repair work? Thankfully Amazon has a solution.
According to a report from TechCrunch, Amazon has recently rolled out a new feature on its mobile shopping app a few weeks ago. This new feature, in case you might have missed it, is dubbed “Part Finder” and what it does is that it uses augmented reality and your smartphone’s camera to detect odd nuts and bolts that you might need and lets you shop for it.
All you have to do is point the camera at the item you need, the app will then attempt to recognize it and measure it using augmented reality technology, and then it will match it with items from Amazon’s product catalogue. This means that if you’re not sure what size screw, nut, or bolt you need, just point your phone’s camera at it and it will tell you.
So far Part Finder seems to be only available on the iOS version of Amazon’s shopping app and it is unclear when it will make its way onto Android.
