The Nintendo Switch for the most part has been designed to be played horizontally. However there are some games, such as classic arcade titles, that will be played vertically, but that also means that the current way the Joy-Cons are held will no longer be possible. However the Flip Grip is an accessory that will change that.
Launched on Kickstarter, the Flip Grip is an accessory designed for the Switch that will basically let you play the Switch in vertical mode. We’re not sure how many games you would actually play in such a mode to warrant the need for the accessory, but we suppose the option is there if you want to take it up.
According to its creator, the Flip Grip has been designed to feature the same rails found on the Nintendo Switch, which means that sliding the Joy-Cons in and out of it should not be a problem for gamers who are used to it already. It has also been designed so that when the console is in place, the ports will be exposed which means that taking out the memory card or game card will not be a problem.
