Right now battle royale-type games are pretty popular amongst gamers, such as Fortnite Battle Royale and PUBG, both of whom have found their way onto mobile and have made huge splashes. Unsurprisingly many other developers have since embarked on creating their own battle royale games presumably to cash in on the excitement.
However if there will be one company that isn’t so quick to jump in with both feet it would be Microsoft. This was revealed by Xbox boss Phil Spencer who tweeted that Microsoft won’t be building one just because others have, and that Microsoft would rather support a new game that offers something different.
Millions are playing BR games right now. I don't want to just build one because others have built them. FNBR is massive, PUBG is huge, new BR variants being built by some very quality devs, I'd rather support unless we find something special in 1P that's a different take.

Either way if you were hoping to see something from Microsoft, it seems like you might end up waiting a fair bit for it, if at all.
