While most flagship smartphones pack some pretty high-end specs that are more than capable of playing games and then some, Razer decided to launch a phone dedicated to gaming. This involved including features like a 120Hz display, better speakers, and so on. However could the “gaming phone” concept be catching on?
Apparently so, at least according to a post on Weibo (via Phone Radar) by a company calling themselves “Black Shark”. This is a verified page and according to its description, it is a phone manufacturer that is also a subsidiary of Xiaomi, whose upcoming debut flagship handset is expected to be a phone catered towards gamers.
What does this entail? It seems that this means that users can look forward to a handset with featured DSP integrated graphics and also an “aviation-class” cooling system. While no doubt this sounds like it could be a very powerful device, the thing is that we don’t see many developers putting out games that are particularly intensive for mobile devices.
This is because most developers work with the hardware that they’re given, versus developing for PC where you could mix and match components to put together an out-of-this-world system. In any case it will be interesting to see what such a device could look like, although whether or not it’ll debut at MWC 2018 remains to be seen.
