It was first reported about a week ago that Nintendo was now allowing gamers to post reviews of Switch games directly on its website. This meant that gamers who browsed the company’s website to search for new games were able to see ratings and reviews for those games left by other players. However, merely days after this functionality went live, Nintendo has suspended game reviews on its website.
A posted on the company’s website reads that “Customer reviews have been taken offline as we evaluate this feature and its functionality,” adding that the company currently has no estimated date on when this feature will return.
Just because Nintendo has said that it’s evaluating this functionality doesn’t mean that the company has decided to discontinue it, even though this is what some users believe right now. Perhaps the company just wanted to work out the kinks with the feature and felt that the right way to do so would be to take it offline and do it properly.
A representative for Nintendo of America confirmed to Polygon that this “trial customer review feature” has been taken offline for evaluation. The representative adds that the response from the community has been positive and reiterates that it can’t be said for sure right now when an update will be provided on the status of this feature.
