Logitech has announced that they will be expanding the functionality of the Craft keyboard, and this will be done by Logitech themselves, and also through the release of the keyboard’s SDK which in turn opens up the door to third-party developers who might come up with some interesting ideas and applications for it.
Logitech is a brand that some of you might think of when it comes to computer keyboards. The company has launched a variety of keyboards over the years in all manner of sizes, but last year they launched the Craft keyboard which is probably its most unique keyboard to date. The keyboard, for those unfamiliar, comes with a dial dubbed the “Crown”, where twisting and turning and clicking the Crown will give users a bunch of new controls that they can work with.
In a way it’s almost as if Logitech took Microsoft’s Surface Dial, shrunk it, and integrated it with a keyboard, and feedback so far has been mostly positive. Logitech’s latest announcement includes support for apps like Adobe Lightroom Classic CC, where through the use of the dial, users will be able to fine tune certain settings while they’re editing their photos.
This was previously demonstrated with Photoshop where the dial could be used to adjust brush size, hardness, opacity, and flow, all from the same input device which could potentially be more efficient. For those who are interested, the Logitech Craft is available for purchase via Logitech’s website for $200.
