It appears that Microsoft has developed a File Restore feature for its OneDrive cloud storage service that it’s going to roll out to users in the near future. This will enable users to restore their files from any point in the past and will certainly be a welcome addition for those who rely on OneDrive for their cloud storage needs.
According to the report, it was revealed by OneDrive Senior Product Manager Stephen L Rose during a presentation at SharePoint Saturday San Diego that the File Restore feature will be available in OneDrive over the next few weeks.
The feature will enable users to restore the files from any point that they want. It will incentive users to store more of their important files online because the ability to roll back to an earlier date will limit the possibility of accidental data loss. It will also be great for recovery from ransomware attacks that don’t show any signs of slowing down.
However, what’s unclear at this point in time is that whether this File Restore feature is only going to be limited for OneDrive for Business or if Microsoft is going to release it for all OneDrive users. It would be pretty cool if it did.
Microsoft is yet to provide any details about this potential new OneDrive feature.
