While the Nokia 8 is supposed to be the flagship Nokia handset at the moment, we have been hearing rumors that HMD Global could also be working on another handset in the form of the Nokia 9 which has yet to be officially announced. In fact some are saying that the Nokia 9 could be launched in the US in place of the Nokia 8.
That being said, it looks like the rumors could be true, or at least in part. This is because the Nokia 9 has recently been spotted at the FCC (via Slashleaks; via Android Police) where some of its potential specs have been revealed. Assuming the filing is accurate and this is indeed the Nokia 9, we’re looking at a phone with a 5.5-inch display, 128GB of storage, a 3,250mAh battery, and the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset.
We’re also looking at dual 12MP + 13MP rear-facing cameras, a 5MP front-facing camera, and Android 8.0 Oreo. There is unfortunately no word on when the phone will be released, but given that CES 2018 is kicking off next month, there is a chance that Nokia and HMD Global might make an announcement then, if not at MWC 2018, or possibly at an event of their own.
Either way we’ll keep our eyes peeled so check back with us in the near future for more updates.
