Tesla has recently announced a new car in the form of the Roadster, which according to the company is the fastest production car in the world. The car has a “Plaid” mode which when enabled, allows it go from 0-60mph in a whopping 1.9 seconds, which is indeed insanely fast, but it seems that it could potentially go faster.
In a tweet by Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk, he has revealed that the Roadster’s current advertised speed is only the “base model”, and that the company plans on introducing a “special option package” for the car that will take it to the next level. At 1.9 seconds that’s incredibly fast so we can’t really imagine how much faster it could be.
Should clarify that this is the base model performance. There will be a special option package that takes it to the next level.

We would also be interested to hear about this special option package’s cost, and given that the Roadster will be priced starting at $200,000 ($50,000 deposit to reserve the car for yourself), we can imagine that this option probably won’t come cheap. That being said, the Roadster is still a few years away from being released.
The new Tesla Roadster is the successor to the company’s original Roadster from close to a decade ago, and the new model is currently slated for a release in 2020.
