While in some ways Apple is innovative, there are times when it does feel like Apple is “slow” when it comes to releasing features on its products that have long been offered by its competitors. A good example would be wireless charging that was finally introduced to iPhones this year, and also the use of OLED screens which debuted with the iPhone X.

However it seems that Apple’s decision to wait years before using OLED screens might have paid off because according to a review of the iPhone X’s display by the folks at DisplayMate, it seems that the publication is claiming that the iPhone X’s screen is the best screen that they have ever tested.

DisplayMate does acknowledge that Samsung had a role to play in developing and manufacturing the display used in the iPhone X, but they add, “But what makes the iPhone X the Best Smartphone Display is the impressive Precision Display Calibration that Apple developed that transforms the OLED hardware into a superbly accurate, high performance, and gorgeous display.”

From a technical perspective, it does sound like the iPhone X’s display looks pretty good, but whether or not you agree with DisplayMate’s claims of it being the best display they’ve ever tested is another story.
