As the name suggests, this is a pickup service and not a delivery service, meaning that you will have to collect it yourself from one of Amazon’s self-service lockers. However not every item on sale on Amazon will be available for Instant Pickup, but rather it will be used more towards need-it-now items like food, drinks, personal care items, and so on, which we guess makes sense since sometimes there are certain items we need at the last minute only to realize we don’t have it at home or with us.
According to Ripley MacDonald, Director, Student Programs, Amazon, “As shopping behaviors continue to evolve, customers consistently tell us that they want items even faster. Whether it’s a snack on-the-go, replacing a lost phone charger in the middle of a hectic day or adding Alexa to your life with an Echo, Instant Pickup saves Prime members time.”
At the moment Amazon’s Instant Pickup is available to Prime and Prime Student members, and there will be five select pickup locations offered at the moment, but there are plans to eventually expand the service. More details about the service can be found on Amazon’s website.
