In a post on the Windows Blog, Microsoft laid out their plans in which they promised that they will be releasing two major Windows 10 updates a year. In fact not counting the updates that have already been released, the next major update has been scheduled for September 2017, and the next in March 2018, and it is expected to keep that cycle for the foreseeable future.
Microsoft also promised that each release will be supported for 18 months. “Each Windows 10 feature release will be serviced and supported for 18 months. This is consistent with our current Windows 10 approach, but adds further clarity and predictability to organizations by aligning with Office 365 ProPlus.”
In the past Microsoft has suggested that Windows 10 could be the last version of Windows, and we guess constant updates will help it feel like a brand new OS, but who knows what the future holds? Maybe down the line Microsoft could change their mind, but for now if you’d rather not have to relearn a new version of Windows, you won’t have to anytime soon.
