Recently Microsoft announced and confirmed that the upcoming Xbox One-exclusive “Scalebound” had been cancelled after being in development for several years. The game was being developed by Platinum Games and it was announced that both companies would be going their separate ways.
According to Microsoft at that time, it was due to “business decisions” that led to the game’s cancellation. Naturally gamers weren’t that thrilled especially given how promising the game looked, which is why some took to Twitter to express their disappointment, and it seems that Xbox head Phil Spencer decided to weigh in on those sentiments.
@TiC_Podcast Difficult decision, we believe result is better 4 Xbox gamers, still disappointing. Im confident in 17 lineup thats our focus

Spencer claims that it was a difficult decision for Microsoft to make, but he believes that the result is for the better for Xbox gamers. “Difficult decision, we believe result is better 4 Xbox gamers, still disappointing. Im confident in 17 lineup thats our focus”. It is unclear as to what that might have meant, but maybe he could be saying that the game wasn’t good enough and that it was better to cancel than spend more years and resources working on it.
However at the same time, Spencer suggested that despite the game’s cancellation, Microsoft’s 2017 lineup will be good enough to pique the interest of gamers.
