That person in question is Steve Frappier who is one of the witnesses to the event that unfolded last Friday. According to Frappier who spoke to CNN’s Anderson Cooper (via 9to5Mac), it seems that his life was saved by his MacBook Pro laptop in his backpack which actually managed to stop the bullet from travelling any further into him.
According to Frappier, “I felt something hit my back. It was only later when I went to the bathroom to check myself out that the bullet had entered my backpack, hit my laptop and then later when I gave my backpack over to the FBI for investigation they found the bullet in the pocket of my backpack.”
He also adds, “The way that it ricocheted and entered my bag. That would have been my back.” This is actually not the first time we have heard reports of devices unintentionally stopping bullets and saving lives. In the meantime the shooter who was identified as Esteban Santiago has since been arrested and formally charged.
