Despite being fairly new to the game, Apple Music has quickly amassed a huge subscriber base. It still falls short of Spotify’s user base, but it is enough for the platform to be mentioned in the same breath. Unfortunately Apple’s video efforts haven’t been quite as successful as we have heard many rumors suggest that the company was struggling to get its service off the ground.
However that could change this year. A report from The Wall Street Journal has revealed that Apple could be getting ready to make a big push into the original TV shows and movies arena by the end of 2017. This isn’t the first time we have heard rumors that Apple has had such plans, but 2017 could be the year that it actually launches.
So far we’ve seen Apple dip their toes in the water by acquiring James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” series. Granted this isn’t an Apple original, but we guess it’s pretty close since technically the company does own it now. We’ve also heard that Apple was planning an original TV show led by Dr. Dre called “Vital Signs”, but to date nothing has surfaced yet.
In any case we guess only time will tell if Apple will launch these rumored offerings by the end of the year, but in the meantime what do you guys think? Would you be interested in subscribing to such a service, or do you think that the likes of Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu are good enough already?
