There is a good reason why Xbox One backwards compatibility is a great idea. This is because there are many classic games that were released for the previous Xbox, and given that in some cases some developers have no plans for sequels or remasters, it doesn’t make sense to dig out the Xbox 360 everytime you want to play it, right?
The good news for fans of Alice: Madness Returns is that if you were hoping to play the game again on your Xbox One, Microsoft’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb has tweeted that the game is now an Xbox One backwards compatible title. This joins a fairly extensive list of games that have been brought over onto the Xbox One thanks to this feature.

Alice: Madness Returns was launched in 2011 and has pretty favorable reviews. Apart from the Xbox 360, it is also available for the PC and PS3 so if you don’t own the Xbox One, those are some of the other platforms that you can play the game on. The game was developed by American McGee’s Spicy Horse studio.
The developer had originally planned a sequel which would make the Alice game into a trilogy, but it never happened. Instead last we heard, McGee was waiting on the success of the animated shorts of Alice: Otherlands and the studio’s other games before returning to the Alice franchise.
