The idea of playing Pokemon GO on your smartwatch makes sense. In fact for the most part it actually makes more sense than using the Pokemon GO Plus accessory. In fact last we heard, development for smartwatches was in the works, and recently the folks at Niantic wanted to remind gamers that their plans are still on track.
An initial report from 9to5Mac revealed that development for the Apple Watch had apparently been cancelled, but it wasn’t sure why that was the case. However Niantic responded by saying that the app was still in the works, and they also posted on Twitter to let gamers know about it.
The tweet reads, “Pokémon Go for Apple Watch is coming soon. Stay tuned.” However the developers failed to mention when exactly the game will be released, which means that we could be in for a wait for all we know. Interestingly enough the initial report from 9to5Mac made mention about how the game on the Apple Watch was a “port”.
This is different from the initial demo shown off in September in which Pokemon GO for the Apple Watch seemed more like a companion app, as opposed to a full game. In any case we guess the game is still being worked on so fans can rest assured, but when exactly will we be seeing its release remains to be seen, but hopefully we’ll have a date to look forward to soon.
