apple-watch-2-white-ceramic-2According to an email sent to Reuters from Apple’s CEO Tim Cook, it seems that Cook has revealed that the Apple Watch has done well for itself over the holiday week and has apparently set a record. The device’s sell-through is said to have reached a new high, which for those unfamiliar basically means units that are actually sold to customers, not to retailers.

Cook’s email read, “Our data shows that Apple Watch is doing great and looks to be one of the most popular holiday gifts this year. Sales growth is off the charts. In fact, during the first week of holiday shopping, our sell-through of Apple Watch was greater than any week in the product’s history. And as we expected, we’re on track for the best quarter ever for Apple Watch.”

His email unfortunately did not provide any numbers, but that’s not surprising as Apple has yet to provide the official figures regarding the sale of the Apple Watch. This is actually surprising to learn, especially when you consider the fact that the Apple Watch has been declining in the number of units shipped and its market share.

Recent figures from the IDC revealed that in Q3 2016, 1.1 million units were shipped versus Q3 2015 in which Apple shipped 3.9 million units. The market share for Apple’s wearables has also dipped down to a measly 4.9%, where in the previous year the company was sitting at a very comfortable 17.5%.
