There have been talks that Twitter is apparently looking to sell itself. This isn’t the first time we have heard such rumblings, but it seems that this time round it could be getting pretty serious. According to a report from Reuters, they have learnt that Twitter plans to conclude sales deliberations this month on the 27th of October.
What this means is that Twitter could either announce on the 27th of October who will be buying them up, or announce nothing at all in which we can only assume that negotiations with interested buyers have fallen through. We have heard rumors that some potential interested companies include Salesforce, Google, and even Disney.
However that has changed. A report from Recode has since claimed that Google and Disney have apparently backed out of the negotiations despite showing initial interest. However given that neither of the companies involved have actually confirmed their interest, it’s hard to say if the initial reports were even true to begin with.
What this means is that out of the companies that have been rumored, only Salesforce is left, which is interesting as analysts have suggested that Twitter’s pairing with Google made a lot of sense, and that Twitter and Disney also had some merit due to Disney and Twitter’s CEO friendly relations. In any case we guess we will find out by the end of this month.
